Introducing the New CTX Black Edition SPM Rods
A fast-recovering, high-stability SPM range designed for repeatable accuracy with spods, Spombs™ and marker setups.

To achieve the kind of distances and repeatable accuracy normally associated with extreme-range carp rods, an SPM blank has to do two things at once: load efficiently under heavy payloads, and stay torsionally stable so energy is not lost through twist. The CTX Black Edition SPM range is built around that principle, delivering a fast recovering, high-stability blank with the modern Black Edition build.
The blank construction combines Japanese Toray 40t and 30t carbon with resin content kept below 25%, producing a crisp, efficient foundation without unnecessary weight. The material lay-up is arranged in alternating 0° and 90° layers to improve hoop strength and stability, then reinforced with the new Double X Wrap Carbon matt taping applied at opposing 30° angles. This creates the distinctive CTX structure that helps the blank resist twist, stay truer under load, and recover more cleanly after compression – especially important when repeatedly casting spods, Spombs™ and marker setups where the blank is continually being loaded hard.
Because both marker floats and spods create extra drag, these rods are designed with more backbone through the butt and mid-sections to keep everything under control, while retaining responsive tips that load quickly for smooth compression and accurate casting. The result is a range that feels predictable and repeatable at shorter ranges, yet has the authority to push on when distance is the priority.
Range Overview
To match your preferred carp-rod length, the Black Edition SPMs are offered in 12ft and 13ft – keeping your baiting tools consistent with the rods you routinely cast, improving rhythm and accuracy through repetition. The 13ft will typically cast a little further in most anglers hands, provided the blank can be fully compressed, thanks to the higher casting arc and increased potential tip speed.
For compact transport and tight swims, the range also includes a 10ft SPM with a 40mm butt guide, designed for short- to medium-range baiting with smaller spods and Spombs™ where accuracy and convenience are the priority. All models feature 12in and 24in depth marks, black acetal collars, and are built on the spine for accuracy and long-term reliability under heavy use.

The versatile do-it-all option. The natural all-round choice for mainstream spod and marker work, particularly if you predominantly cast 12ft carp rods and want your baiting rhythm to match.
NCTXSPM543 – CTX SPM 13ft – 50mm
The distance-biased choice. The model for bigger waters and longer-range baiting, where the extra length helps generate more tip speed and greater casting arc when the blank is fully compressed
