Nestled in the heart of Essex, in the charming village of Ingatestone, our picturesque 6-acre grassy meadow features a tranquil 3.8-acre lake.

Our lake is home to over 323 fish, including carp that weigh up to 40 pounds. During your stay, you’ll have the chance to catch one of our two 40-pounders, along with thirteen 30-pound carp and more than a hundred fish in the 20-pound range, with the remainder weighing between 10 and 19 pounds.

In the summer months, you may encounter Canadian weed in certain areas, particularly around pods 6, 7, and 8. However, these can be effectively navigated using the right fishing techniques. In contrast, the winter season sees minimal weed growth. Given the abundance of trees surrounding the lake, fallen leaves can pose a challenge, so we recommend using a bait boat with solid bags and pop-up rig chod rigs to enhance your chances of success. The lake bed is predominantly silty, so be sure to feel around for hard clay spots.

Each pod has an excellently equipped set up with a 32inch smart TV, streaming services, a mini bar,

a PlayStation 4, Wi-Fi and a fitted cupboard with clothes rail and shelf, as well as a both a comfy pine bunk bed and double bed matched with a mattress topper and Egyptian cotton sheets. Every one of our pods comes with an optional hot tub and fire pit that can be added as a extra upon arrival, to finish off your luxury experience here at Mill Lodge Retreat.

The pods are fully insulated, keeping it cool during warm summer days and cosy during the winter evenings, providing the perfect balance for all seasons glamping and fishing. Outside each pod offers a relaxing decking area with table and chairs to enjoy al-fresco evenings with exclusive access to the lakeside.

Our pods come with a double bed and bunk bed as standard (top bunk takes weight up to 65kg). The shower and bathroom facilities are situated either side of our reception and bait and tackle shop at the entrance of our lake. On arrival we will help you load up any equipment and luggage on to our golf buggies and escort you to your pod. We will provide you with all the comfort that you need, we just ask that you bring your own towels for your stay.
